SoSi's Celebrating VA250
Visit SoSi is proud to be a Commemorative Partner of VA250 — the Virginia American Revolution 250 Commission.
Of the thirteen original colonies, none played as fundamental a role as Virginia in the formation of our country. From the ideas that inspired it, to the battleļ¬elds that decided it, there is simply no America without it.
As we mark 250 years of Independence, now is the perfect time to reconnect in the places that made it possible.

In SoSi, Let History Come Alive!
Along the Dan River, in the Visit SoSi region (which includes Danville and Pittsylvania County, VA), history runs deep, and community runs strong. As we celebrate America's 250th anniversary, we invite you to explore the stories that helped shape the nation.
Long before this area became famous for textiles, tobacco, and railroads, it was home to the Saponi, Monacan, and Tutelo peoples. The Dan River was their lifeline — and the river remains central to the region's strong identity even today.
Over the centuries, Danville and Pittsylvania County have played a pivotal role in some of America's most iconic chapters. From agriculture to industry, to Civil War and Civil Rights, this area has always been a place where everyday people helped move history forward.
As part of Virginia's 250th celebrations, we invite you to Visit SoSi and experience the people, places, and stories that continue to shape a shared future full of excitement and opportunity.
