DANVILLE, Va. (WDBJ) - A new report shows Danville is continuing to see growth and economic success.
The pages inside the Economic Development and Tourism Annual Impact Report tell the story of Danville’s progress throughout 2024. It sheds light on revitalization efforts in the Schoolfield, North Main, and Old West End Districts and beyond.
It also highlights key economic development announcements from last year, such as Microporous, Caesars and RBW Electric Cars.
“2024 was certainly a landmark year for our community,” said Corrie Bobe, Director of Economic Development and Tourism. ”We thought this was an appropriate time to consolidate all of the great news into one document so that the community can understand the growth that’s taking place and we can all celebrate the accomplishments.”
The report also shows that in 2024, 2,400 new jobs were created in the Danville area along with $1.4 billion in total investment.
There was also $215 million in visitor spending, compared to $144 million in 2022.
“The jobs and investment numbers announced last year surpassed our previous years of announcements. It just continues to show that we’re a community that can provide a great quality of life. We have the skilled labor force that continues to track investment, not only from new industry, but also from our existing businesses,” added Bobe.
There are many factors at play behind the continued growth that can be found within the report. But Bobe says a major role is the collaboration between leaders to make bold investments into the community - dating back decades.
“Talent is key with any industry, as well as investment in quality of life assets to ensure that when a company locates into our community, they’re able to attract and retain that talent in their facility. So, those investments have really driven forth the growth and the success that we’re seeing now,” explained Bobe.
