DMFAH was designated as a US Civil Rights Trail site, one of only four in Virginia! The US Civil Rights Trail is a collection of churches, courthouses, schools, museums, and other landmarks in the Southern states and beyond that played a pivotal role in advancing social justice in the 1950s and 60s, shifting the course of history.
Danville Historical Society is the caretaker of the largest repository of artifacts, photographs, stories, and documents in the city of Danville and strives to illuminate the present through knowledge of the past.
